Are you looking for things to do in Bordeaux this summer, with friends or with your children? In July and August, the Cité du Vin invites you on a real journey around the world through a summer programme packed with experiences.

Tasting workshops, immersive and sensory experiences, and a tour of the permanent exhibition: all summer long, enjoy a cultural and culinary getaway and make the most of Bordeaux, even in the heatwave (or in the rain...)

The event of the summer: A tour of the world’s vineyards every Thursday evening

This summer, set off on a journey through the world’s great wine regions… without leaving Bordeaux! Every Thursday at 7 pm, our wine-tasting workshops take you on a journey of discovery through an iconic wine region, for a convivial get-together.

Here’s what’s on the programme – take your pick:

  • 2 July: Swiss wines
  • 9 July: Corsican wines
  • 16 July: wines from Germany
  • 23 July: wines from Alsace
  • 30 July: wines from Australia
  • 6 August: wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape
  • 13 August: wines from New Zealand
  • 20 August: wines from Burgundy
  • 27 August: wines from Italy

At each workshop, taste three carefully selected wines and discover the stories, terroirs and expertise that make up the richness of vineyards near and far, as recounted by a passionate sommelier.

Why not make this your summer after-work get-together with colleagues or friends?

Experiences to enjoy all summer long

Whether you’re just passing through Bordeaux or on holiday in the region, the Cité du Vin offers activities to suit every taste – whatever the weather!

Exploring every aspect of wine

Open every day from 10.00 am, the Permanent Exhibition invites you to explore every aspect of wine: its history, geography, cultures, expertise and way of life.

As you make your way through a series of interactive areas that are sure to delight you (and your children or teenagers!), you’ll be able, for example, to smell and identify the aromas of wine at the ‘Five Senses’ buffet, watch a 360-degree film about the seasons in the vineyard, tread grapes, and even take part in an immersive digital dinner...

Before rounding off your visit to the Belvédère with a tasting of a wine from around the world (or a non-alcoholic drink) and a panoramic view of Bordeaux (one of the best view in Bordeaux) from the terrace!

Take a stroll through the garden and discover some free photography exhibitions in Bordeaux

Throughout the summer, you’ll have the chance to explore two photography exhibitions at the Cité du Vin – both indoors and outdoors!

A photography exhibition featuring more than 50 photographs of wine-growing regions from around the world. Through gestures, faces and landscapes, each image tells the story or tradition of a vineyard.

This exhibition, organised by the City of Bordeaux in collaboration with the Cité du Vin, is held in the gardens of the Cité du Vin. The renowned photographer captures scenes of everyday life centred on conviviality, gatherings and the art of living. Wine is portrayed here as a universal symbol of sharing...
