Six new wine partners have joined the Cité du Vin

In 2025, the Cité du Vin welcomed six new winemaking partners, bringing to fifty-five the total number of organisations, inter-professions, chambers of commerce and other regional associations already associated with the Fondation for wine culture and civilisation (which manages the Cité du Vin). The State of Victoria (Australia - Victorian Government Trade and Investment), the Slovak Grape and Wine Producers Association (Slovakia), the Winegrowers and Winemakers of Istria Association (Croatia - Vinistra), the Sommeliers Association of Morocco, the AOC Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur Syndicate and the Loire Wine Interprofession (InterLoire) make up this 2025 group, joining the long list of partner regions. Thanks to them, visitors to the Cité du Vin will be able to discover new wine-growing regions and taste new varieties of grape in the different activities featured in the museum.

More than 415,000 visitors to the Cité du Vin in 2024!

The Cité du Vin saw a return to its historic visitor numbers in 2024. It welcomed more than 415,000 general public visitors, in addition to over 5,500 people who took part in a cultural activity as part of a corporate or group event. These very positive numbers are due to its ever-growing appeal to foreign visitors – from 180 different countries and accounting for more than half of all visitors – enabling the Bordeaux cultural venue to exceed forecasts and return to its pre-Covid visitor numbers. In 2024, the Cité du Vin thus passed the milestone of 3 million visitors since it opened. Added to this are the large numbers of locals who always turn up for cultural events and professionals attending corporate events. With sustained visitor numbers, the Olympic Games and inclusion in a government promotional campaign, 2024 will remain a landmark year for the Cité du Vin and for the Foundation for Wine Culture and Civilisations, which celebrated its 10th anniversary and confirmed its commitment to increasingly sustainable cultural and leisure activities by renewing its existing certifications and obtaining new ones.

Cité du Vin: positive results for visitor numbers in 2023 and a committed road map in place for 2024

The Cité du Vin welcomed 385.000 visitors from nearly 100 different nationalities in 2023. These numbers are representative of very positive visit-levels, very close to those in 2022, even though the site was closed for an entire month for the renewal of the Permanent Exhibition. By the end of 2023, the Cité du Vin had welcomed more than 2.7 million visitors since it opened, boosted its appeal to foreign visitors - who account for more than half of the total number - and attracted a steady stream of locals to its cultural events. The new range of cultural events offered over the past 12 months has met with a very receptive audience. Bolstered by this success, the Cité du Vin now wants to strengthen its CSR policy to offer visitors an activity that is just as popular, but even more sustainable and responsible.
