Enjoy a tasting experience unlike any other in Bordeaux!
From 1st April to 1st November 2026
Via Sensoria is a unique sensory tasting journey: a one-hour journey through pavilions themed around the four seasons, combining artistic displays with seasonal drinks pairings, all designed to stimulate your taste buds. In a small group (maximum 15 people), accompanied by a sommelier guide, you will taste four wines from the Bordeaux vineyards (or original non-alcoholic beverages) specially paired with the artistic worlds and the four seasons.
Depending on the schedule, sessions are offered in French, English or Spanish to ensure an experience tailored to everyone.
Things to know before your visit
- Booking a time slot
You need to choose a day and time to buy your ticket.
Please arrive in front of the Via Sensoria room (on the 1st floor) 10 minutes before the reserved time. Latecomers will not be able to take part in the experiment.
- 1 combined ticket for a complete experience
The Via Sensoria experience is different from and complementary to that of the Permanent Exhibition and Belvédère.
Would you like to visit the Permanent exhibition and the Belvédère at the Cité du Vin in addition to the Via Sensoria experience? Enjoy the full experience by purchasing a combined ticket, which entitles you to a 30% discount on the exhibition.
- Family experience
Via Sensoria can be enjoyed as a family (from 6 years old), but we would remind parents that they remain responsible for their children's good behaviour, so as not to disrupt the experience of the other participants.
An edition dedicated entirely to Bordeaux, to mark the 10th anniversary of the Cité du Vin
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Cité du Vin, the tasting selection for this edition showcases the Bordeaux wine region! It’s a chance to discover the full diversity of Bordeaux wines through four different styles. A new selection of non-alcoholic drinks will also be available.
- In the spring pavilion, a sparkling wine such as a Crémant de Bordeaux or a cucumber tonic water
- In the summer pavilion, a white wine from Entre-deux-Mers or an infusion of hibiscus and white grapes
- In the autumn pavilion, a red wine from the Médoc or the Saint-Émilion, Pomerol and Fronsac region, or an organic grapefruit tonic water
- In the winter pavilion, a Bordeaux Claret red wine or grape juice
New this year: tasting sessions focusing on the four basic tastes are offered in each season, to help visitors better understand the flavours (salty, sweet, sour and bitter) that make up taste.
Wine tastings are reserved for over-18s, with non-alcoholic drinks available for minors.
An intimate and unique tasting experience
Via Sensoria is a soothing experience, a sensory interlude where four artistic universes echo surprising tastings of four Bordeaux wines or non-alcoholic drinks, combined with visual, sound, olfactory and poetic creations.
This is not a tasting workshop, nor is it a traditional or immersive exhibition. It's a unique sensory experience!
Whether you're a beginner or a novice, a wine lover or not, adults and children alike can get to grips with this journey which, far from the conventional codes of wine tasting, offers surprising combinations of artistic environments and a selection of four Bordeaux wines and non-alcoholic beverages.
6 original poems, specially created for this experience, also punctuate the route, to complete this dreamlike work.
Via Sensoria takes you on a journey to the rhythm of the seasons, with a relaxing offer that's resolutely turned towards nature. From dawn to dusk, take a day-long journey through Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.
Your questions
Find the most frequently asked questions about Via Sensoria here, or find all questions in the FAQ.
Can we access the Belvedere with the Via Sensoria ticket?
You can only access the Belvedere with an admission ticket for the permanent exhibition (unless you are a Cité du Vin annual pass holder, in which case you can visit the Belvedere as often as you like!).
If you wish to access the permanent exhibition and the Belvédère de la Cité du Vin in addition to the Via Sensoria experience, we recommend choosing the dedicated combined ticket to enjoy the full experience!
Do I need to purchase a ticket in advance to visit Via Sensoria?
We strongly recommend that you purchase your ticket for Via Sensoria in advance so that you can choose your preferred visiting time slot.
Booking your ticket online before your visit will also allow you to go directly to the Via Sensoria entrance on the 1st floor without having to queue at the ticket office.
How long does Via Sensoria last?
The experience takes place over an hour, accompanied by a wine expert.
I would like to do a tasting. Should I choose a workshop or Via Sensoria?
We offer several types of tastings depending on the day:
- Daytime tasting workshops are held in circular rooms that encourage discussion. You can choose between: Introduction to Tasting Workshop and Bordeaux 360° workshop.
- The Via Sensoria sensory tasting experience offers a different approach to tasting, through a one-hour journey that allows you to reconnect with the rhythm of the seasons while stimulating your senses through four tastings (non-alcoholic drinks are also available). Accompanied by a passionate sommelier guide, in a small group of up to 15 people, this journey is designed to be a relaxing experience!
A wonderful experience for the whole family and an excellent introduction to the world of wine before visiting the permanent exhibition.
